Inspection and Testing
The wiring and fixed electrical equipment in a property should be inspected regularly to ensure it is still safe to use.
For rental properties this must be carried out at least every 5 years (Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020).
Campaigning charity Electrical Safety First recommends having an inspection carried out every 10 years in a private property.
Its also a good idea to get an inspection when you are purchasing a property, electrical safety is not part of a standard property survey.
Larger Electrical Projects
I can undertake the installation of new circuits or the change of a consumer unit.
Replacing a consumer unit enables the installation of modern safety features including RCBOs (Residual Current Breaker with Over-Current - a combination of RCD and MCB) and SPDs (Surge Protection Devices).
On completion of this type of work I will issue an Electrical Installation Certificate and through my membership of a Competent Person Scheme, NAPIT, will inform the building control department of your local authority.
